Audi e-bike: A bicycle that runs at 80 kmph
LONDON: Imagine a sophisticated bicycle that matches the speeds of a bike with just the press of a button. Well, your fantasy has now become a reality, thanks to an incredible new e-bike by auto manufacturer Audi.
The new Audi e-bike Worthersee, built on motor racing design principles, has every possible gadget that you could ever need - just like a Formula 1 car.
Perhaps the most helpful feature is an electric motor to help rest those tired legs of the rider. But this isn't just any electric motor, it can help build speeds up to 80 km per hour, the Daily Mail reported.
According to its developers, a cyclist can choose between a total of five modes, including the pure muscle power mode, the electric motor alone, or pedalling supported by the motor.
In the "Pure" mode, the drive power is purely the product of the cyclist's legs, while in "Pedelec" mode you are aided by the electric motor that then makes speeds of up to 50 mph.
If you select "eGrip", the Audi e-bike Worthersee runs solely on the electric motor and can reach a top speed of 31 mph. The cyclist then controls forward momentum using a gripshift and can configure the power as desired using the touchscreen on-bike computer.
The cyclist can also hook up to the computer using a smartphone. For those looking to record tricks, video images recorded via the in-helmet camera can be uploaded to the Internet in real time via your smartphone. Facebook status reports also pop up on the Audi e-bike Worthersee display.
Different modes can be set using a smartphone or directly on the e-bike - either "Power Wheelie" mode, with adjustable wheelie angle for less skilled bikers or "Balanced Wheelie" mode for sporting challenges.
It's also fitted with homogeneous LED light strips that create the immediately recognisable Audi light signature.
"When developing the Audi e-bike Worthersee we drew on motor racing design principles for inspiration," said Hendrik Schaefers, one of the designers of the e-bike.
"The e-bike appears incredibly precise, highly emotional and strictly functional. Indeed, the design effort focused on its function as a sports machine. All design elements are thus firmly aligned to the technical features."

Sad News : Just heard that a child artiste Tarunii Sachdev who acted in "PAA" died in Nepal plane crash
KATHMANDU: Two Indian children aged nine and six were pulled out alive along with their father and three others from the wreckage of a small plane that crashed near a tricky airport around 2,600m above sea level in northern Nepal on Monday, killing 15 of the 21 people on board, mostly Indians.
Officials said 13 Indians killed in the crash included the mother of the two. Seven of them were from Mumbai and one from Hyderabad. It was unclear where the rest were from and the airline didn't identify the dead.
Kathmandu's Indian embassy identified three Indian survivors as Tirumala Kidambi Sreekanth, Tirumala Kidambi Sreevardhini (9) and Tirumala Kidambi Sreepada (6). They were airlifted to the tourist town of Pokhara for treatment along with other survivors - two Danes and a Nepalese air hostess. Officials said Sreekanth was admitted to Pokhara's Manipal Teaching Hospital ICU, while the two children were in a post-operative ward. B L Karna of Tribhuvan airport said the pilot aborted landing at Jomsom airport at the last moment and tried to return to Pokhara, 60km away, due to a technical problem.
Officials of Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International airport said the Agni Air Dornier 9N AIG, which crashed near Jomsom airport in Nepal, ploughed into the ground while it was trying to ascend. "The pilot had reported a warning light flashing in the cockpit as he descended to Jomsom. The aircraft seems to have lost balance," said B L Karna of rescue coordination committee at Tribhuvan airport.
Reports said the aircraft broke into pieces, but did not catch fire and that rescuers managed to reach the scene swiftly thanks to its proximity to an army camp. The crash was the second deadly air disaster involving the airline in less than two years and the fifth in Nepal in less than two years. It comes about eight months after 10 Indians were killed in another crash near Kathmandu. Jomsom Airport is among one of the world's most dangerous airfields due to the mountainous terrain on the approach.

Indian origin mum dies saving daughter
Family, friends of dead Indian origin mom praise her courage
Melbourne, May 9 (ANI): Family and friends of doting Indian-origin mother Mijin Shin, who managed to push her daughter to safety in a final act of love when the pair was struck by a bus, praised her act of courage at a private funeral service held at a Macquarie Park chapel on Wednesday.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Meera Mital's first birthday party last Sunday should have been a joyous occasion, as just days before, the little girl had taken her first steps.
Her doting mum Mijin Shin couldn't wait to tell her mothers' group friends, but tragically, Mijin wasn't there to celebrate the special day - the 38-year-old was killed when she was hit by a school bus while carrying her child across the road.
Her grieving husband Vishal Mital revealed how he still took their youngest girl to the party because it's what his wife would have wanted.
"I owe it to Mijin to keep going and to keep things as normal as possible for the children, I can't let her down," he said.
Mijin was crossing the road in Beecroft last Wednesday on her way to collect her other daughter Kelly, 11, from school, when she was knocked down.
Meera was resting on her mum's hip when the bus struck them but Mijin somehow managed to push her baby girl to safety.
"Meera is a miracle. To have pushed her out of harm's way in the flash of a second, knowing fully what was going to happen, and all she ended up with was a scuff on her, is truly a miracle."
As they struggle to comprehend the accident, the family said it was no surprise when witnesses spoke of her bravery and actions as she stared death in the face. (ANI)
