Indian origin mum dies saving daughter

Family, friends of dead Indian origin mom praise her courage

Melbourne, May 9 (ANI): Family and friends of doting Indian-origin mother Mijin Shin, who managed to push her daughter to safety in a final act of love when the pair was struck by a bus, praised her act of courage at a private funeral service held at a Macquarie Park chapel on Wednesday.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Meera Mital's first birthday party last Sunday should have been a joyous occasion, as just days before, the little girl had taken her first steps.

Her doting mum Mijin Shin couldn't wait to tell her mothers' group friends, but tragically, Mijin wasn't there to celebrate the special day - the 38-year-old was killed when she was hit by a school bus while carrying her child across the road.

Her grieving husband Vishal Mital revealed how he still took their youngest girl to the party because it's what his wife would have wanted.
"I owe it to Mijin to keep going and to keep things as normal as possible for the children, I can't let her down," he said.

Mijin was crossing the road in Beecroft last Wednesday on her way to collect her other daughter Kelly, 11, from school, when she was knocked down.
Meera was resting on her mum's hip when the bus struck them but Mijin somehow managed to push her baby girl to safety.

"Meera is a miracle. To have pushed her out of harm's way in the flash of a second, knowing fully what was going to happen, and all she ended up with was a scuff on her, is truly a miracle."
As they struggle to comprehend the accident, the family said it was no surprise when witnesses spoke of her bravery and actions as she stared death in the face. (ANI)
